The Hope Ranch is situated in the quiet NW suburbs of Chicago in an area with several forest preserves, lakes, farms, where a variety of activities can be enjoyed. Here are some of our recommended to do's during a silent retreat.

Trail Walking
There are several beautiful forest preserves in the area, often featuring a river, scenic overlooks, and hiking trails. To name a few: Grassy Lake Forest Preserve, Tower Lakes Fen Nature Preserve, Fox River Marina, Port Barrington Forest Preserve, etc.

Canoe, kayak, pedal/row boat
Rent a boat, canoe, kayak, fishing pole, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Zurich (230+ acre lake). More details: Bill’s Boats Bait and Marina.

Equestrian Activities
Visit one of the equestrian and riding centers, watch horses, or take a riding lesson. Click here for the Barrington Hills Riding Center.

Biking
Explore the beautiful forest preserves by bike. Suggested: bike and stop to watch birds in Baker's Lake Nature Preserve or Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve.

Bonfire
Enjoy an evening out on the property with a bonfire and marshmallows.

Gardening
Enjoy some gardening work on our property. Gardening has been proven to improve mood, stabilize feelings of anxiety and depression, and overall, reduce feelings of stress and stress incidents.
